Strengthening the skills of Ultralight Aicraft pilots in the Comoé National Park

Published on

In 2022, Aviation Without Borders supervised two Ultralight Aircraft pilots from the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves. We then coordinated preparing the Bathawk Ultralight Aircraft of the Comoé National Park, which was completed in March 2023.

Aviation Without Borders is currently initiating the strengthening of the skills of the two pilots from the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves in specific flight techniques for managing a national park.

A first South African pilot-instructor, Sean Cronin, conducted two training missions in April 2023. These are the first steps of four months of practical training at the park with several pilot instructors who have obtained recognition of their license from the Ivorian Civil Aviation Authority. The emphasis is on the practice of flight with this type of Ultralight Aircraft, as well as flight techniques for park surveillance, fauna inventories, and dropping provisions and ranger equipment.
